OK, OK, I know what your thinking "This guy is lying" but, im not.
So right now (not sure it shows anymore) if you go to the menu in any game, you see player names right?
But below them are their username, with an @ at the front of it.
I have a picture of it below this message.

That's if they didn't go get a display name. So it just put the @ under it for extra. Unless you change your VPN to Germany and get a display name, all the @ will do is show your username.

I take back on that part where I said @ for extra, its actually for identification.
